DIY Face Mask From A Hepa Filtration Vacuum Bag
In this video we make a face mask out of hepa filtration vacuum cleaner bag. We know these are not as good as the N95 masks, but it is another option that offers some sort of filtration when in a pinch. It’s not fully sealed to your face but the material itself is rated to filter down to .3 microns. Our family has run a sewing and vacuum store for over 40 years and in that time we have never come across HEPA vacuum bags that contain fiberglass.

Bobbin Case & Bobbin Basics
Просмотров 20 тыс.4 года назад
With the influx of stuck-at-home sewers, I wanted to make a video showing how different bobbins and their cases can be and explain the differences between a front loading case and a top loading. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments below. Thanks for watching :) (All shot on an iPhone 7 & standard earbud mic. We used 4 spotlights with daylight bulbs.Sorry for any audio/vid...
Sewing Machine Feed Problem and Solution - Dirty Feed Dogs
Просмотров 63 тыс.5 лет назад
*I'm sorry for the shakey video but it was filmed spur of the moment on an iPhone. We have a machine that came into the shop with feeding problems: the customer complained that the machine was not feeding properly and stitch length was off and the needle plate was bouncing. This is a common problem caused by lint/debris build up between the feed dog body and the needle plate. For a more in dept...
Simple $3 DIY Skateboard Rack
Просмотров 46 тыс.6 лет назад
New Website Under Construction - JackCreekRoad.com We needed a simple board rack to hold 4 boards, so we came up with this. It's not fancy at all, but it gets the job done! We started with two, 8ft long furring strips. We spent a good amount of time finding the two straightest strips we could fine at our local home center. Then using the miter saw, we cut 8 pieces (8.25 inches long) with a 37 d...
Front-Loading Sewing Machine Home Maintenance
Просмотров 6 тыс.6 лет назад
In this video we'll show you how you can perform a simple, at home, maintenance on your front-loading sewing machine. This is standard, routine maintenance that should be done after every large project. This is by no means a complete service like those done at repair shops, but this type of upkeep will keep your machine in good condition. In this video we also quickly cover some Bernina (1230) ...
Does your sewing machine bobbin direction matter?
Просмотров 11 тыс.6 лет назад
One of the first things people point out when sewing machine problems occur is the direction of the bobbin. But the odds are sewing/tension issues are more likely cause by missing tension disks/springs. So in this short video I try to illustrate how little your bobbin direction effects your machine's stitch. Inevitably someone will say that their machine is different because it's top loading, w...

Sewing Machine Problems: Thread Looping/Bunching - Presser Foot Position
Просмотров 47 тыс.8 лет назад
In this video we try to clarify how your presser foot position while threading can and will effect your tension. As you see in the video, threading with your presser foot down will result in your thread sitting on the outside of your tension disks rather than inside. When this happens you will have no upper tension resulting in loops and bunching on the bottom side of your material. To remedy t...
DIY Iphone Pan Head / Mount
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.8 лет назад
Hi there! I know it's been plenty of times before, but I decided to make a cheap pan head from a broken kitchen timer. I wanted to fit it to work with a cheap smart phone tripod but not be permanently attach it. The first step was to disassemble the timer. I was able to remove the large silver screw from the tripod so the camera holder would still attach to it (This was then epoxied to the piec...

This is standard, routine maintenance that should be done after every large project. This is by no means a complete service like those done at repair ...

Custom Cornhole Set (Previous Project)

This was a father's day present I (Born & raised in San Diego) made for my dad (Who was raised in Whittier.) The top started off as a half sheet of oak plywood cut down to regulation size (I found this online.) The sides and legs are made up of 2x4s which give the boards plenty of weight and make it so they don't move when the bags land on them. The two boards can be hooked together with the at...
Ruching (Gathering) A LuLaRoe Julia Dress
Просмотров 12 тыс.8 лет назад
Here's a simple way to add ruching (gathering) to a dress. I would recommend measuring your dress while it's on to determine where you would like the ruching to start and stop. You may want to mark your material for reference. It's important to remember to only stretch the elastic as you sew it in without stretching your dress. A couple other notes: My machine's lights work fine in person, but ...

Yeah, sorry to state the obvious but, yeah, you can source the wood from a tip or dump, but you've got new wood, and that's about $20's worth of wood, screws $6 screws, wood glue $8 = $34, $3? Sorry, no, but it's a good looking rack though, thanks 👍

Y’know, here I was sitting worrying about the BRAND NEW machine I just bought, and read the comments about rethreading…. I thought to myself “surely not, I just threaded it!” ….. 😔 it came unthreaded….

Oh my goodness. I am a complete novice and I was about to have to call a repair person to fix my machine. I still have no idea why running it without the bobbin worked , but it did. I probably spent an hour in 10 times having the thread bunch at the bottom before I stumbled upon your video. Thank you so much!

It depends. If you have the ability to adjust the presser foot pressure, I would start with that, If you don't know how, respond with your model number and I'll see if I can help you further.

Just so you know that this video is still helpful to people even 7 years after you posted it. My grandma gifted me her sewing machine but being a beginner I barely knew how to use it. I was getting extremely frustrated with jamming issues and was about to quit my project till your video helped me realize I was threading my machine and missing the take up lever!!

This has been so helpful. I've been sewing for almost 60 years and was familiar with knowing that I should adjust tension, turn wheel correctly, all the things you've shown -- but I didn't know the 𝙬𝙝𝙮. That close-up of the top tension mechanism was so helpful. As was the part about top-loading bobbins vs front loading. I am about to buy a new machine and now I will look at it more closely and try to get one with metal parts, and for which I can use my current bobbin collection. Thank you so much.

I had the same issue where the take up lever wasn't the problem, but the issue was that I cleaned the machine and the thread tension wheel was set to zero, causing it to not pull up the threads. Same symptoms, different cause. In case anyone reads this and can't find the problem :) This might be the solution if the thread is already well positioned in the Take Up Lever.

You can put a drop of oil on the presser foot lifter shaft at the top where it goes in the machine and see if it helps cycle, before going through more elaborate trouble shooting
